The adhesion to drywall / gypsum board is very low. Lets say irrelevant. I know people doing some spraying of cement coarse sand on the drywall so lime plaster can key into it. But thats just for walls and the lime plaster will be very thin here (2-3 mm).
Mar 24, 2011 Stucco over gypsum board exterior. 02-04-2008, 0749 PM. In my area, Ive noticed that EIFS seems to be losing ground to traditional stucco applied directly to fiber glass covered gypsum sheathing, as in the reno below, where the first coat is just going on. Im sceptical of this in our climate, especially in that the Code requires a 6 mil ...
Oct 03, 2016 12,894 Posts. 2 8 mo ago. The butt board is intended to bend the edge into the wall a bit to provide more space for the tape and mud. On the 8 edge that has already been taken care of. However it is common to add a flat piece if wood behind those long seams, especially with 1/2 on 24 centers, called a backer board.
Jul 02, 2003 Plastering over blue board ( drywall specifically for white coat of plaster) is done all the time. If the drywall is regular drywall, I would contact Gypsum board manufacturers ,ask them. If the plaster that is on now seems ok except for the finish, you should be fine. paulc127

Jun 06, 2021 Posts 48,437. Received 457 Votes on 410 Posts. I almost always hang drywall horizontally which means other than the joint in the middle there arent any tapered edges at the corners. Horizontal helps to disguise any irregularities in the framing and is
Nov 19, 2016 The best latex primers Ive used are Isl-X Aqualock (by BM) and Benjamin Moore Fresh Start 046, but Fresh Start is a bit prohibitively expensive to use as a drywall primer now ($45 per gallon.) Ive actually never used a Kilz latex primer for anything so I cant give first hand experience for how good or bad it is, though most members would ...
Jun 11, 2019 255 Posts. Discussion Starter 1 35 m ago (Edited) If drywall needs replace because the bottom got wet for example, Im told its easier to replace the entire sheet of drywall (4ft x 8ft) than it is to try and replace say the bottom 1ft. This is because theres usually horizontal wood 2x16 placed between studs that the drywall attaches to.
Sep 16, 2021 Sheetrock and Gyprock are brand names. Gypsum board speaks to the mineral that makes the board possible, and plaster refers to the process that transforms gypsum into a usable building material. Drywall is a reference to how this product is dry and ready for painting right away, unlike its predecessor, plaster and lath.

Jul 04, 2007 Drywall is not necessarily fire rated just because it is 5/8 inch. Drywall can be non-fire rated in 5/8 inch, but it is probably something youll never see. All drywall is non-combustible, but not all drywall is fire resistant. When drywall is exposed to heat
Oct 03, 2016 3 on a drywall T-square, one of the great, simple inventions of the DIY era. You will be amazed at not only how straight your drywall cuts become, but just how fast you can move along once you perfect your technique. Also, it doesnt hurt to buy a drywall rasp. Its a nice little tool to use if you do make a less than stellar straight cut.

Apr 19, 2019 Today as I was inspecting a house I came across a section of OSB sheathing covered with water resistant drywall. (see attachement). The seller indicated that they had problems the previous winter with icicles, and the builder had come back in and added ventilation and apparently this drywall? The only thing I can figure is that they thought it might insulate the bottom of the sheathing some? I ...

Im wondering if anyone has used drywall, plasterboard, gypsum board as a means for adjusting alkali soils. I would plan on using only new cut-off pieces of drywall that have no paint on them, crushing to a pretty fine mix, then mixing in with the soil at the recommended rate for gypsum. Though it is a simple material, calcium sulfate mixed with water, pressed between paper, then heated to dry ...
